These informative workshops will provide lots of fact based information regarding COVID-19 and approach the pandemic from many dimensions including what can be done in your workplace to make it safer. UPDATE FROM YOUR EXECUTIVE BOARD – MAY 7, 2020
Good Afternoon Sisters and Brothers,
First and foremost, we want to take this opportunity to let you know that we are thinking about all of you, hoping that everyone and their families, friends, and colleagues are healthy and safe during this trying time.
We have members who have been laid off from their workplaces, who are working from home in sometimes challenging ways, with small children, elderly parents, or makeshift offices at their dining room tables. Members who are essential services workers facing the public day to day in workplaces like credit unions.
It is a difficult time where our members, you, are doing the best you can, during this pandemic.
We want you to know that we have been in touch with your Staff Reps who are your first line contact and we are trying our best to stay informed, and lend support, wherever possible, and needed. We are thankful to the COPE Ontario Staff Reps who are on the front lines working directly with our members and their employers ensuring that you are being represented fairly.
This is an unprecedented time, where people are scared, living in uncertainty, where family obligations have taken a whole new meaning, and it is times like these that we have to work together more than ever before.
Your COPE Local 343 Executive are here for you, we are not working from our Local office regularly, but are checking the union email daily. If you or a fellow member require any support at all, please reach out to your Staff Rep, but also, you can copy us at the Local (email@example.com), and we will do what we can to support you.
We also wanted to let you all know that the COPE Local 343 Biennial General Meeting (BGM) scheduled for June 4 – 6, 2020 that was announced in our last newsletter, and at the Steward’s Symposium, has been cancelled. With the uncertainty of COVID-19, we just could not risk holding the BGM in June, and felt it was in our best interest to not reschedule it for later in the year.
Please stay safe and healthy during this challenging time!
