Delegate Entitlement and Registration Process
For Bargaining Units of 5 or more members as per Article 12 – Delegate Entitlement, Unit’s must hold elections for Unit Officers, and Convention Delegates. Following your Unit’s elections, please ensure that the Bargaining Unit Registration Form is filled out and submitted to the Local by Friday, February 22, 2019.
Individual’s who are elected to represent their Unit at Convention must also fill out the Delegate Registration Form, which can be found online at https://goo.gl/forms/
rtHldWt2wQeCywNc2. Please provide this link to each delegate and ensure that they register by Friday, February 22, 2019.
For Bargaining Units of 4 members or fewer, there are 8 Delegates elected to represent the General Unit. If interested, members must submit their name, Bargaining Unit, Phone Number and Email to the Local at email@example.com by Friday, February 22, 2019. If more than 8 General Unit members submit their names, an election will be held. If 8 or fewer members submit their names, the Local will notify the General Unit members of their automatic delegate status and provide them with the registration link and deadline.
Every Unit is entitled to send 1 Youth Member, aged 30 and under, as part of their delegation to Convention. In addition to this, there are five Youth Member spots available. Please advise Youth Members who aren’t elected to represent your Unit and are interested in attending to submit their name, Bargaining Unit, Phone Number and Email to the Local at firstname.lastname@example.org by Friday, February 22, 2019. An election will be held if more than 5 Youth Members express interest. Otherwise, the Local will notify the Youth Members of their automatic delegate status and provide them with the registration link and deadline.
Following the Delegate Registration deadline, individual packages will be forwarded to each Convention delegate, which will include Convention details such as the Agenda, Resolutions, etc.
Resolutions and Constitutional Amendments
As per Article 6.2, the deadline to submit Resolutions or Constitutional Amendments to the Executive Board is Friday, February 1, 2019. Included is a A Quick Guide To Resolutions (COPE Local 343)which can help your Unit with drafting Resolutions and/or Constitutional Amendments. Units must pass a motion to submit the Resolutions before submitting them to the Local.
Proposed Resolutions and Constitutional Amendments will be distributed to delegates at least 30 days in advance of the Convention and posted on the Local’s website.
